The Scottish RNA Club
Statute
Founded in September 1999 by Dr.s Michael Ladomery and Dr. David Elliot, at the MRC Human Genetics Unit, Western General Hospital, Crewe Rd. Edinburgh EH4 2XU, Scotland UK.
Aim: To promote connections between researchers in Scotland with an interest in RNA; to hold three informal meetings annually; to set up a website to facilitate communications within Scotland, the UK, and the outside world; and to promote links with other RNA societies worldwide.
Format of the meetings: the meetings will be held three times per annum. The "home ground" is the MRC Human Genetics Unit, Edinburgh, but other locations are likely to be used. Meetings will include three 25 minute talks, in an informal settings, with refreshments provided between the second and third speakers. The meetings are open to everyone; whether or not they work on RNA.
Sponsorship: has been obtained from a number of Companies; any further sponsorship from Companies or Institutions is most welcome; please contact the organisers. With increased sponsorship we hope to (1) provide financial assistance to students traveling to the meetings and (2) attract high profile external speakers from abroad.
The organisers: two per academic year; who undertake to run the Club; including: organising and advertising the meetings (speakers, audiovisual, refreshments); maintaining a Club website; and maintaining a Club email account and mailing list.
